Melin Tyddyn Du Kiln

In 1997 a measured survey was taken at the water mill and oat drying kiln known then as Felin Ty'n y Nant but historically  refered to as Melin Tyddyn Du. The mill was referred to as a ruinous structure but the kiln was considerably more complete.  The structure was roofless and the hearth had partially collapsed making kiln unsafe. During 1999 and afterwards works were carried out to refurbish the kiln and its building

The drawings are based on information  & a survey carried out  by Andrew Davidson & L.A.Dutton of Gwynedd Archaeoligical trust in 1997 for Snowdonia National Park. Also information in the article from Archaeology in Wales 42, 2002, 81-84 by Peter Crew.
