Mathern Mill

Mathern mill was in use until around 1968. The drawings shown are still in the early stages of recording so they are incomplete and only show the equipment that is still within the mill. There where several machines that have been removed at some point but they can be located from holes in the floor, bearing blocks and other traces that remain so representations of them will be added later. The mill at one time was powered by a steam engine and from the small photo you can see prior to 1923 had a magnificent 85’ tall brick chimney (for an idea of the proportions note the people stood at the base). My thanks to the owners Mr. & Mrs. Bowen for letting me measure the mill. Currently they open parts of the premises on certain days, see the link at the bottom of the page.

If anyone has information on the mill both the owner and myself would love to hear from you.
