Welsh Mills Society Cymdeithas Melinau Cymru
About Us - Who we are, what we do
The Welsh Mills Society was launched in October 1984. The aims of the Society are to study, record, interpret and publicise the wind and water mills of Wales; to encourage general interest; to advise on their preservation and use, and to encourage working millers.
The Society’s Annual General Meeting is held in October and a Spring regional meeting, alternating annually between north and south Wales, is held in late April.
The Welsh Mills Society arranges lectures, films, visits to mills, demonstrations and courses on mill recording techniques and millwrighting as well as actively publicising mills which are open to the public.
Regular newsletters are sent to all members, together with the Society’s annual journal, Melin, containing articles on subjects relating to the Welsh mills scene.
