MWWMG

The Midland Wind and Water Mills Group, sometimes known as the Midland Mills Group, or MMG, is a voluntary, non-profit making society of mill enthusiasts. The Group was founded in 1976 and is loosely linked to the Mills Section of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, but functions as an independent society. Its members are of a wide range of ages and backgrounds, with interests covering all aspects of mills and milling - historical, technical, practical, or "just interested".

Where are we?

The members mainly live in the Midland counties of England, ie in the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire but there are members in many other places in the United Kingdom and some reside abroad.

Why do we exist?

  • To increase the members' enjoyment of all topics concerning mills and milling by associating with like-minded people.
  • To stimulate the public awareness of mills and the need for preservation and restoration.
  • To support, actively and financially, the restorationand conservation of mills.
  • To provide members with the possibility of acquiring practical milling experience.
  • To record the surviving mills in the Midland area.
  • To coordinate and assist in the historical, technical and social research of mills and milling in the Midland area.
  • To publish the results of research, restoration etc., in a professional manner.
